The Columns Museum - Genealogy

The museum resources include an extensive collection of early records, such as birth, marriage, death, census, warrants, deeds, and voting rolls.

The materials are used primarily by the Society Genealogist and Trustee, Mr. Robert Longcore, and others under his direction.

The genealogical library also houses books about families who lived in the area during the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries, as well as a media file containing scrapbooks of historical articles and photographs of local events and personalities.

Visitors seeking genealogical information should begin their search at home, in their local library, and by using the Internet; then enhance or support their research at the Pike County Historical Society. They should then move on to continue their investigations with other local and regional historical/genealogical groups in the tri-state area, such as the Delaware Township/Dingmans Ferry Historical Society, the Greene Township Historical Society, the Minisink Valley Historical Society, etc.

Visitors to The Columns may engage in genealogical research at the museum on Wednesday afternoons, between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m., during the months when it is open, and at other times when specific appointments are scheduled with Mr. Longcore. Genealogical questions may also be sent to the Pike County Historical Society Newsletter or Mr. Longcore at P.O. Box 915; Milford, PA; 18337-0915.
